Description

Cees Braakman designed the Wire stool in 1958 — the same postwar decade when steel wire, once a materials-rationing stopgap, became an aesthetic argument all its own. Braakman had returned from a study trip to the United States, where Charles and Ray Eames were reshaping what furniture could be made of, and the Wire's concentrically wound seat and open frame carry that conversation forward in Dutch terms. Pastoe relaunched the design, updated for current ergonomics. Counter and bar heights, black powder-coated or chrome.
